Ayam Rica-Rica is a spicy Indonesian chicken dish originating from Manado, North Sulawesi. The chicken is typically sautéed or simmered in a fiery chili-based sauce giving it a bold, aromatic, and tangy flavor. It’s known for its intense heat and is often served with steamed rice to balance the spiciness.
Our recipe gives you a shortcut to a flavourful version of Ayam Rica-Rica.

Ingredients:
1 bottle of Final Destination
2 tablespoons of cooking oil of your choice
6 cloves garlic- crushed
2 red onion- sliced
1 kg tomatoes- diced/chopped
1 whole chicken- cut into desired size
salt and sugar to taste1 cup of water
a stalk of lemongrass- bruised with the back of a knife (optional)
a handful of lime leaves (optional)
Directions:
1. Add cooking oil to a large skillet or wok and heat over medium high heat.
2. Add garlic and onion and fry till they are slightly golden brown. Pour Final Destination and stir fry until combined.
3. Add tomatoes and cook for 3-5 minutes or until cooked through. (The tomatoes have to be soft and have paste like texture.)
4. Add chicken into the tomato mix. Stir for 2-3 minutes until evenly distributed.
5. Add water and bring to a boil. Cook for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. When the chicken is thoroughly cooked, add lemongrass and lime leaves and cook for 1-2 minutes. Season with salt and sugar to taste.
7. Serve with white rice if desired.
